Stray Animals / Spaying and Neutering in Ukraine

We first became active in Ukraine in 2012, during the European Football Championship, for which thousands of dogs and cats were brutally killed to “clean” the streets. International protests had little effect. We carried out two missions on site, in particular to train local vets in modern neutering methods, because unfortunately some of the neutering methods used at the time were truly outdated, with the result that countless patients did not survive the procedure. Both missions were successful. ZDF’s Mittagsmagazin and the Schweizer Beobachter reported the story.

In the following years, our involvement in Ukraine was limited to medical advice and the distribution of relief supplies. When war broke out in Ukraine at the end of February 2022, we became active again. In addition to the emergency aid for the victims of the war, which we carried out under the title Disaster Relief Ukraine, we were also able to establish neutering programs.
